What if he's always closer than you think?

We all long to feel loved, seen, and connected. What if that longing is a whisper from God, reminding us that we're already held by him? At the Trueface 2025 Retreat, we'll explore how Jesus meets our deepest desire for intimacy, revealing that the closeness we crave has been there all along.

After two years on the East Coast, we're heading West! Through worship, teaching and meaningful conversations, we'll create space to rest in God's love and rediscover the peace of being fully known and fully loved. Join us in Denver, and experience the beauty of being close!

Michael Cusick
Michael Cusick from Restoring the Soul will be with us as one of our Keynote Speakers. Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor, spiritual director, speaker, and author of two books, including Sacred Attachment: Escaping Spiritual Exhaustion and Trusting Divine Love. Having experienced the restoring touch of God in a deeply broken life and marriage, Michael’s passion is to connect life’s broken realities with the reality of the Gospel. He holds an MA in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University and an MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. Michael formerly served as an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary and a full-time professor at Colorado Christian University. He lives with his wife, Julianne, in the foothills of Colorado, where he enjoys the Rocky Mountains and a host of outdoor activities with friends and family.
 Jim Wilder
Dr. Jim Wilder has been training leaders and counselors for over 30 years on five continents. He is the author of multiple books with a strong focus on maturing and relationship skills for leaders. His coauthored book Living From the Heart Jesus Gave You has sold over 100,000 copies and is printed in eleven languages. Wilder has published numerous articles and developed four sets of video and relational leadership training called THRIVE.
He is the founder and chief neurotheologian of Life Model Works, a nonprofit working at the intersection of brain science and theology that is building contagiously healthy Christian communities through equipping existing networks with the skills to thrive. Dr. Wilder has extensive counseling experience and has served as a guest lecturer at Fuller Seminary, Biola, Talbot Seminary, Point Loma University, Montreat College, Tyndale Seminary and elsewhere.
Benjamin Crawshaw
Benjamin Crawshaw serves as Trueface’s Director of Member Engagement, where his journey has been deeply shaped by the Trueface community. Through their model of trust and vulnerability, he’s come to see that our relationship with Jesus and our connection with others aren’t just related—they’re inseparable. As he puts it, “To love Jesus is to love others, and to trust others is to trust Jesus.”
Benjamin lives with his three daughters—Lilah, Esmae, and Sailor—in the heart of a North Atlanta suburb. He’s a fan of Reese’s Pieces, hip-hop beats, and riding bikes with his girls.
Janet Newberry
Janet Newberry helps people live loved instead of afraid. She will be leading a breakout session at the retreat.
She’s the founder of John 15 Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring the lost art of being family. Janet is the author of Education by Design, Not Default and Practicing the Art of Being Family—a practical framework for transformation through secure relationships and the everyday rhythms of life in the Kingdom.
Her story includes decades in education, a long wrestle with shame and performance, and a life-changing encounter with grace that reshaped everything. Today, she comes alongside families, churches, and ministries ready to trade pressure for peace, and fear for love. Janet’s message is simple but profound: transformation starts with peace—not striving.
Joel Ansett
Singer/Songwriter Joel Ansett will be with us to lead worship during the General Sessions and to share a special concert of original music. Over the past decade, Joel’s songs have quietly ministered to listeners across the country—garnering more than 30 million streams and earning a Lennon Award in 2024. His work has also been featured in productions by Marvel, Netflix, and ABC.
His latest album, Layers, brings to light unseen relational barriers that often stand between us and deeper connection—with strangers, with loved ones, and with God. These songs create space for honest reflection, vulnerability, and a renewed awareness of God’s nearness and care. Joel lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife Molly and their four young children.
